I got these ancient Cherry MX switches from eBay some time ago. New old stock.

Modern MX keycaps did not fit them. Then I remembered that a long time ago, webwit sent me some super thick devlin keycaps, that did not fit modern MX switches. I combined both and finally I have two useless items that combine into one useless item!

A triumph in uselessness. Well done. You can park that next to your beam spring 'board for a dynamic duo of utter uselessness.

Good idea! Its about time I order like a few hundred of those keychains. That could be our next give away.

I'd like to rig one of those up with a little battery and LED.

Sixty, let's make an uber-rare keyboard out of them.

If you design the PCB, sure!

Awesome design, actually, as a through-hole general-purpose switch. By merely drilling a circular hole for the stem you could backmount it on a plate.

I have about 200 of these. a little bit of exacto-knife work and they fit regular cherry caps.
Now for figuring out what to do with them^^. I like the way they feel, so count me in on the uber-old experimental keyboard if this happens. If we can come up with a pcb to have etched, im guessing either miniguru or access matrix layout it should be doable. Hmm, maybe I should do this on my own in my *cough* copious free time. MEaning I have none. Why did I buy these switches again? Because they were 1.95€ for 72 and I figured they might be cherry greys...

square holes. The picture doesnt quite let you see it, but it is designed to be plate mounted in a rectangular hole.

Oh interesting, what (in comparison to current Cherry MX) do they feel like?

Are they similar to these?

Slight chance they're MX compatible.

I think those might be ALPS actually! Oddly enough... they look similar to those ALPS found in old Apple keyboards. Could be entirely wrong though. You never know with these 30 year old linears.

Me too. I read the part about that with the key caps too late.

I thought more about widening the mounts of the key caps.

I will give it a try, once I've got the switches.
