Wow, whoever got this, got a nice deal :)
It's a really good deal. I am envious of whoever got it.

It's an authentic Beam Spring, hence at any price it's worth it.

Would use it as a wall hanging once it's cleaned up and mounted properly. Very cherished art piece, worth far more to me than any Pollock or Hofmann.
I have paid 80€ for mine, subtract 30 for the case ...
I paid 800$ for mine and I regret it fully. I got it mostly for the VGC status so it better be very good condition and not decayed inside, or I'm returning it to the seller :/
800! My condolences. Most (obviously not all) beamsprings on DT were acquired for less that 100 by their current owners.

The form factor of the beamsprings makes it highly impractical to use. One can't even use it for typing fast. I never really understood how eBay prices are sustainable and how buyers are willing to pay 4 digit figures for beamers.

The best vintage keyboards out there, in my opinion, are Model Fs (all models) and ones with ALPS switches. Vintage cherry MX blacks also recieve a worthy mention.

Or criminally neglected typewriters with Marquardt Butterfly switches. Which do require a bit of effort to get up and running but are hella worth it.
"Closest thing to beamspring" according to some...

Pretty much why I felt bad buying it for that price, knowing that I just made the price of beamspring slightly become more expensive (but some other guy probably would've bought it anyway), and that I could get it for cheaper unrestored from someone here. I'm really hoping that the board really is VGC unrestored just as the seller says, since that's the reason why I got it in the first place.

I can't even use a full size keyboard, let alone the size of the white whale. It's more as a collection for me like a center piece among my vintage collection. But I guess the convenience and the fact that the buyer has the money is the reason why it broke the 4 digit mark. I did use the F AT and M0116 Orange Alps as my main keebs until I've reached the level of condom switches, but I'm planning on switching back to F with the Kishsaver repro and its layout, can't lie that I'm more excited for that than the beam (still on the way orz).

I do wonder, what's the most cheapest and expensive price that someone in this forum spent on a beamer (excluding recycling centers and trashed finds)? I know half-saint sold a 3278 for 750Eur preshipping and paypal fees, and Bass sold a Displaywriter board for 800$ and a near mint and converted 5251 for 1450$ (jfc that's the price of a corolla XD). Going back the expensive price for a beamspring back in 2015 is 300$ (one went on sale for 100$), 2017 is 700$, and now it's around 1200$. I won't be surprised if by 2021 we see beamsprings on sale for 1800$....

In Europe no one pays that high for Beamsprings. The last few beamspring listings in Germany didn't cross 500. Considering most people on DT got their beamers for less than 100 (or so), no body in their right mind would pay so high for them.

Can confirm cantech buckling spring, horrible switches (if you would even dare call them switches) and someone has to pay me to add this back to my collection.

This rather haphazard listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/80-s-Computers ... 4525300045
pointing to https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-n9 ... CsS7gvFaP8
has a Micro Switch SD-series board on p. 61 with gorgeous blue keycaps.
The legends get weird over on the right, with a HUGE enter key and something that looks like a mushroom to me.

Page 2 that morse code keyboard gives me SKCC vibes and looks similar to the Alpsaver. Of course there is more than just the keyboard in that box.

edit:
Not exactly the Alpsaver as we know it.

They're Mitsumi linears. I remember someone posting the Japanese version of it here, but I couldn't find the post.

I've messaged the guy for prices on specific items, hope that he does give prices and is willing to ship to a proxy service. He's near San Francisco, and if only I was still at LA at this point in time I would've driven 8 hours just to ravage through them :'(

I suppose at this point I should mention I have purchased the Micro Switch keyboard module with the blue keys as well as some other random boards which I will share pictures of once they arrive.

Damn the seller is acting as if he still has them. Willing to share which board you got and how much he sold them for?

Did a bit of reading on the IBM POS boards, might be membrane buckling spring from the IBM 4680 POS line, something similar to this:
https://www.recycledgoods.com/ibm-47838 ... key-as-is/
but I don't seem to find any photos concretely showing buckling spring on the board, nor does the IBM Parts wiki says what type of switch it has.

Probably the 50 key version of the IBM POS Alphanumeric Board - wiki/IBM_Alpha_Numeric_POS_Keyboard
There's also the rubber dome version of the alphanumeric POS board with a nav cluster and a card reader
Alphanumeric BS - viewtopic.php?p=273257#p273257
Rubber dome variant - viewtopic.php?p=273280#p273280

A set of two plates / PCBs with Aristotles and one with (vintage?) Cherry MX white for 25 quid, possibly less with offer. What are you waiting for? (Postage from UK kinda kills it for me and I'm no longer in awe of any -totles...)
