Easily some of the greatest switches around. Someone should get it before the seller responds to me with shipping options to Germany...

Is someone here interested in doing me a favor and willing to proxy this for me?

Couple large terminal ISO boards with MX blacks:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Comput ... Sw8bteEnVG
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPUTER-LAB-I ... OSwb55ePtA~

I have one of them. They have pretty good build quality. Would love to know the protocol so i can convert it :)

It WOULD be tempting to get one of those, take out the MX blacks off of it, put MX Clears on (plus QMX clips) and perhaps have a sufficiently silent battleship-sized keyboard for the office.

I dont think you will be disappointed , they are built quite well. If you do get one and get it working ( converter or new controller) let me know :)

The second one looks to be in great shape, but the differing code number (BTUS965212756 instead of BTUS890923757) makes me wonder if it's a rubber dome instead of a proper mechanical keyboard. As per conversions... shouldn't both be talking in Code Set 3? And if so, wouldn't a common Soarer's converter cable be enough? (these keyboards would be using the AT/XT model, and I'm assuming here that Orihalcon's cables should be able to handle both protocols at the same time).

Tempting...

@Orihalcon! We got some questions for you here! :D

Hmm. Hard to say without having one in hand to try. At least one IBM board outputs a mix of all 3 code sets (the 1397000 I believe in particular, which is a vintage M122 with lock LEDS). There's also at least one third party branded (Lynk) M122 that the most recent version of Soarer's converter doesn't quite interpret correctly, but the older 1.03 version does detect correctly and it actually outputs XT protocol even though it has 122 keys, see here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62168.0

So would try a regular Soarer's Converter first, then if that doesn't work, go for one loaded with firmware version 1.03 next. Probably best for someone to try with a Teensy so you can more easily reload with different firmware if the newest version doesn't do it. Once it's confirmed what the requirements are, if it takes something other than what the stock Soarer's converters have pre-installed, I can load up the appropriate version before shipping them once sold if you let me know in advance. Final thing to try if that doesn't work would be a hand wired teensy with the reset pin also wired up.

That Lynk M122 confused the heck out of me as you can see from my old thread there, especially since they were manufactured by IBM and the controller still looked almost identical to a stock one, but wasn't anything like a standard M122 when it came to the output. I credit Hasu (and I actually sent him a reward) for figuring out that the older version of Soarer's converter was the key to getting it to sense correctly. I believe Soarer changed how XT interpretation happened to accommodate boards that used "non-standard" XT protocol, namely the popular DC-2014. Ironically, my external converters don't work on those because of the lack of a "reset" pin which is required on a few models, mainly Zenith and Leading Edge XT boards.

It makes me salty seeing people already selling their new F62/77 keyboards. It might have been their plan all along, but I'm still waiting on mine :(

It's the reproduction though, so it shouldn't be too insane.

This is a different variant as well since it has the interpret functionality.

I stand corrected, I have a similar looking board that has rubberdomes.
