This thread caught my interest so I gave it a shot.SneakyRobb wrote: ↑05 Apr 2020, 19:52I was trying to make this Red Selectric on a wheelwriter. The only issue I had is that the keys are very flat white and thus its hard to make them look good in a gray/black colour given my skills.

Thanks! Yes, it's a sticker that I bought off a guy on eBay who makes them. It was slightly too small so it showed the silver badge underneath so I put two strips of electric tape under it to hide it. The sticker itself is very high quality. I'm pretty pleased with it.zippolupan wrote: ↑08 Apr 2020, 21:08Did you make that black square badge yourself? You have a very good taste for mods.

These all look so good, I wish we had a better idea of what kinds of dyes and shades would actually work for cases like this.
I may grab some cheap IBM mice from that era and try using them as guinea pigs. They can be had for around 5 bucks a piece, use similar materials (with the M cases at least), and are easy enough to disassemble to test a couple dyes on each.

I know what you mean. When I did mine, I sort of took a big gulp, crossed my fingers and started painting. I actually used a shitty paint on my first go around on the white one and it looked awful. I had to sand it and start over but now I'm satisfied with it. I just spent loads of time on google images seeing what other people did. You kind of have to get a vision of what you want and then take a stab at it. I think where a lot of people go wrong is when they try to mix too many colors. I like to keep it simple. There's a lot of good inspiration to be found with newer boards too, especially in key cap rendersInvisius wrote: ↑09 Apr 2020, 13:02These all look so good, I wish we had a better idea of what kinds of dyes and shades would actually work for cases like this.
