Don't worry I nearly did aswell, was about to hit buy and saw that it mentioned cable.. that was close..hellothere wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020, 01:27Well, I wasn't thinking keyboard, but I was thinking switches and caps. And I did read it, like 3 times, too. Oh, well. Not too expensive of a lesson.

That auction looks to be for just the ribbon cables, nothing else included.hellothere wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020, 01:14https://www.ebay.com/itm/Macintosh-Port ... 3504005581
You need some salmon Alps switches? You don't mind unsoldering them? You want some Alps-mount keycaps to go with them? You want to pay $11 for 63 (I'm pretty sure it's 63) keyswitches and caps? Here's your auction. Free slow shipping, too.
Note that, while I was online actually ordering a bunch of these sets, someone gave the ebayer a negative review. That dropped his percentage to 97.8% on 87 sales.

Agreed, very similar to those sellers who sell boxes from game consoles for $300 only mentioning it's just a box for two words in the title. *Technically* they're not doing anything wrong but like...c'mon.
Very obvious this seller is hoping someone will buy it thinking it's a keyboard.

What I will do is if I do get a shipment of just cables, I'll contact ebay and tell them that the product I received did not match the picture in the ad. I've done that two times before. It'll just take a month or so for a refund.

I guess I don't see the issue here. Everything seems accurately described in the listing and the price is within reason for the described item. It's not likely you would find the keyboard for $11.kelvinhall05 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020, 04:03Agreed, very similar to those sellers who sell boxes from game consoles for $300 only mentioning it's just a box for two words in the title. *Technically* they're not doing anything wrong but like...c'mon.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. But like I said, between only briefly mentioning that it's just a cable, and for the picture to be of a keyboard and trackball module, it totally seems to me like he is hoping someone buys it thinking it's a keyboard and/or trackball.JP! wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020, 17:29I guess I don't see the issue here. I almost fell for it too, but luckily there is no shipping option to the EU
I think the problem that led to the wrong perception is that the thing pictured is not the thing sold, which I personally find close to being intentionally misleading.

BTW, I did see an ad for "10 Pcs NOS NMB HI-TEK TTY Keyboards, Series 725, Electronic Projects, Arduino for $80.50." today. That could be cool. I've not played with a Space Invaders keyboard before.
Anyway, back to the discussion about that ad.
I think we're trying to get to some point of "buyer beware." However, there is a point where the seller steps over a line. Did the seller do so here? My opinion is yes. However, my opinion doesn't matter. ebay's opinion matters.

Sanyo MBC-885 with FLS 3rd gen switches:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/303613783321
This is around when everyone was standardizing on IBM compatibility, so maybe it's XT protocol, unlike the earlier 550, which was just serial ASCII.

Lol, I figured it out. So what's the deal with Yahoo auctions? Why is this so cheap? Is the catch that shipping is just super expenseive?Jesseg wrote: ↑06 Jul 2020, 16:15Yep! Sure is

I guess it is so cheap because the auction still has 3 days left. And there's also a certain risk when buying stuff second-hand from Asia.ddrfraser1 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2020, 16:17Lol, I figured it out.
