@funkmon: Even the F62 has two superfluous keys, but the F107 is beyond the pale (although at least it stopped before going all the way to 122). I do, however, like the look of widescreen-format keyboards (and I have to admit that I have an F107 in my collection, waiting to be restored and converted to USB).

This was a build that just worked. Not a lot of forethought went into this. I was just bored, had a lot of ingredients laying around and this is what came out. Didn’t even know what keycaps I was gonna use til 10 minutes ago.
Ducky Shine 7 with lubed hako clears, lubed stabs, tire balance weights added to case for extra heft and sound and drawer liner on the inside. I give it a 9.5 out of 10 just because the switches feel excellent but not amazing. Very enjoyable to type on.
The bottom of the case is black, I think I’ll spray paint it white.
Edit: aaaand my wife just stole it. Not joking. Sigh... at least I get my BKE modded realforce back.

I'm stoked you got one!funkmon wrote: ↑27 Jul 2020, 18:54So, regarding the XT being the best keyboard IBM ever made, I must concede that I may have spoken too soon. While I do consider the XT to be the best of the traditionally available Models F floating around, I just tried an F107. It turns out these are better.
The keyfeel and build quality of the XT put it above the 122 and AT, in addition to the keyboards derived from it, like the Bigfoot and so on, but the F107 feels like an XT, but weighs as much as the sun, and also you can use it with a virtually modern layout. Indeed, the layout may be the best of the Fs, because you can use Windows and Context Menu keys, unlike even a Model M.
Unfortunately it means you might have to buy a bigger desk.

This one has mounted Forsty Flake controller, so I can program it!

Aside from the keycaps, I could see myself using that board as a daily driver. Neat how it has a custom controller that allows you to do so much with it. Like a Wyse in hip clothing.

I just started with mechanical keyboards and really like this Compaq. There ist just something about the trackball, the form factor and the red Compaq logo that appeals to me. I got it for dirt cheap, cleaned it as best as I could (it was heavily neglected by the previous owner - dirt and scratches included) and added some black keycaps I harvested from a defunct G80-3000. I really like how the project turned out!

Hi guys, first time posting something.
I just received in the mail my very own IBM model M, and its going to be my daily driver for now on. (I will post pictures once its clean and ready, right now needs some love).
But I wanted to show you some things I have done. this one was a really cheap gaming board I turn into a wooden monster with spray painted keycaps. It has the weirdest switches ever (mx blue super clicky clone, called Jilate). Heres is a side view of it. then I did this for my sister, using a Acer 6312 (they grow on trees here in Spain, you can find them for free everywhere). and, finally, another gaming board (this one with otemu reds) that used to be mine (now my friends first mechanical) and I turned into this purple rgb nightmare I guess that what I do is not very orthodox, but I enjoy the projects and the different ways I can customize something are endless, and its not just "I buy this kit, and choose the keycaps and I call it custom".

I ordered a few keys from Unicomp and now both my model M and model F are completed. I put a couple accent blue keycaps (including the PANIC buttons for the esc keys).
The "portable" F has not yet been converted, but my teensy comes today on the mail and I will integrate it inside the cable hole, with a 3d printed cover that will have the USB female exposed and hopefully the LED indicators for lock keys. Then I will get one of those fancy braided cables in blue so it goes with the whole theme.
