now that I think back at this, a Model-F'd M60 would probably be endgame in lots of ways, but the M60 is rather than F62s and Model-F'ing one would be loads of work and might not even possible actually ...
edit : it's actually a M58 :')

A whole line of new Model F keyboards, with differing layouts, for each use case I want to: a Folly127 battleship, a common fullsize, a TKL, a 75%, a 7×4 numpad; also a split full-size and a 6×16 ortholinear keyboard.snacksthecat wrote: ↑The keyboard you've always wanted. Second that. Although it’d share the unobtanium throne with the dream of pristine and somehow scratchiness-proofed Alps SKCM browns with lighter springs... actually I should probably just get some lighter springs for my TKLDarkshado wrote: ↑A Model F SSK with a current gen three button TrackPoint.

Using these to make a massive Alps SKCC battleship with a wooden case and solenoid!

I'm working on making a reproduction of the ALPSaver case but with a 60% form factor. Would love to be able to get enough of these switches to fill out the board so that I could throw in a bunch of amber or Matias click leaves and make what would be an endgame 60% for me.

Ugh I have the 3101, and I wish so much that it didn't have the stupid flapper thingy on the top of the case. Full metal case looks sooo much cleaner.

I want to see a paper on how these bugs worked... something we can build off of.

Potentially you could take a regular 5251 and put in a Bigfoot model f case, there's a reasonable chance it would fit.

Does Unicomp have any plans to do a TKL or heavy case? TKL would be just about ideal for 90% of the people out there looking for a good compact mechanical. A brand new M available in a narrow form factor. With all unicomps options on their list. More office friendly volume level than an F or Selectric.
Assuming TKL unicomps are unobtanium...
For the existing ten key ones.. I'm tempted to do a run of zinc case castings for folks who want a heavy case. That $150 mark is something I personally have a hard time exceeding. I bet a lot of users out there are the same. I think a $50 zinc case would be cool if you could throw an IBM M or Unicomp into it and get that heavy feel. If its even possible to hit that $50 mark. Haven't checked, probably not.
Anyway that would be a cool alternative to the $400 reproduction F.

unicomp is working on a tkl, but as I understand it they are understaffed due to covid, and so everyone who would be working on developing the tkl is currently working in assembly so that they can still fill orders.
