My BTC identifies as a beamspring. You got a problem with that?

Yet, in 2021, Wang keyboards are unacceptable.raoulduke-esq wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 15:52Not in 2021 I don’t. #wokeddrfraser1 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 15:47My BTC identifies as a beamspring. You got a problem with that?

really impressive that we're palette-swapping attack helicopter jokes still, one day you'll think of new material. I believe in you.

I'm disappointed that I didn't see this earlier, because I have a Wang 724/725 (I have it in storage, so I can't check if it has a 3770 model number) with the same looking keycaps and it has salmon Alps. The Wiki entry says "Alps SKCL/SKCM," no Cherry MX, and has a pic of a KB with orange Alps.xxhellfirexx wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 01:01Wang with maybe Alps SKCM black switches.

If you're referring to to the "offset" "Upper Case Alpha" key, I've seen that style before. I don't remember where, off the top of my head.John Doe wrote: ↑03 Apr 2021, 08:28Anybody noticed the keyboard is a little bit weird?

If you're referring to the worn parts near each seam, I'm not sure if that's natural or the thing's been repainted. I'm leaning toward repainted.

Evidently my attempt to keep it light while diffusing that joke was misinterpreted as an attack? I can’t speak for anyone else but for me I’m dead serious. It’s 2021. I’ll refer to anyone however they prefer to be addressed and treat them with the respect they deserve as a fellow human. I would encourage everyone to do the same.

Congrats to whoever snagged this green alps board: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AT-Computer-Ke ... 4746090863
I’d asked the seller to remove a keycap (as I imagine others did), the seller kindly obliged but by the time I checked back for the updated pics it was gone. No hard feelings though, happy hunting!

While I'd absolutely love to try brown Alps, this one's a tad too steep at $500 US. It's a "new old stock" replacement for an IBM 5140 luggable.
And one for $299. I do realize that the seller has a bit of history here ...

Yah, yah.
I've had good experiences, though. As an example, I bought one of his case/mounting plate/PCB combos. When I got it, I saw that the PCB had a bunch of lifted pads. I e-mailed through ebay and he refunded me immediately -- and let me keep everything. So, I have no complaints. YMMV.

Ah damn, I've been had! I should've looked through all the pictures. That being said, people have been able to to force cherry mx SA switches onto their beamers. Not that I'd recommend it. Guess this wasn't the deal I thought it was.kbdfr wrote: ↑06 Apr 2021, 09:13Aren't those actually MX mount?dr-lipschitz wrote: ↑06 Apr 2021, 06:00if anyone with a 3278 was trying to find BoW numeric keycaps:

That price is outrageous, those go for $50-$75 from what I have seen in the past year

That is a very fair price for a NOS split spacebar one.vdublove37 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2021, 02:27That price is outrageous, those go for $50-$75 from what I have seen in the past year

$140 is a little high when you consider taxes + shipping, but it's a well built board with nice switches, and the split bar saves the layout from the 1u backspace most BAE boards are stuck with.kelvinhall05 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2021, 04:51That is a very fair price for a NOS split spacebar one.vdublove37 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2021, 02:27That price is outrageous, those go for $50-$75 from what I have seen in the past year
I got mine in a weird and poorly concieved trade (I think I traded a Wyse board worth of vintage blacks and ~$60 for the case, caps, stabs and plate of a K151L and the split spacebar NMB). Those K151L caps are about to come in handy since I accidently melted my other set

Ha! I bought a used one at $50 and it needed cleaning and one of the switches in finicky and sometimes doesn't register key presses. One is NOS condition is worth the premium if you enjoy these clicky space invaders like I do. In fact I'd buy this if I didn't already have a couple of these.vdublove37 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2021, 02:27That price is outrageous, those go for $50-$75 from what I have seen in the past year
