I bought that Model M, I was in contact with that seller, and he set it at that price so I could purchase it. I ended up paying 90 dollars.

From hence forth you shall be known as 'The Negotiator'. Joking aside I've seen sellers modify their listings to specify that the item was only available to a specific seller. A couple times I've had to spam refresh to wait for a listing that was meant for me. Luckily I got my items before someone stole them away from me. Setting a high BIN price like this seems like an effective way to manage this scenario.latemodel24 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 16:03I bought that Model M, I was in contact with that seller, and he set it at that price so I could purchase it. You can also have the seller add a "Make Offer" option to the listing, which lets them accept a specific offer (or buyer). No danger of another buyer jumping on the item that way.

NOS Acer 6311s US ANSI https://www.ebay.com/itm/324584512306?h ... SwE~9ggNEw $50 OBO; would probably accept $40; can't make out if the caps are dye-sub or not but it is the K case version with top-printed legends. Stabilized keys only work on this board but other caps can be transplanted, including the stepped caps lock.

The shell of an AEK II painted blue that mated with a M/F 122 and then was mounted to a drawer of electronics. I adore this completely!

Another weird one...I am 100% certain this is cherry switches, and the windowed caps should be tripleshots. Ill attach pics of my old Aston Motif board.

TK-M501C. $70 w/o shipping; two available. I'm fairly sure that this is a Can Technology buckling spring KB. Chyros did a review of one of the Can Tech keyboards with the same switches.

Because now this is just straight up unaffordable. Ignoring economics for a second: This keyboard should not be worth this price, but I can say the same for many that are selling for thousands.

This feels like people complaining about overpriced Japanese shitboxes from the 80s and 90s but ignoring that they can get a 3 year old Mustang for a bargain. This old stuff is valued based on "cool" or "nostalgia", not because it's better than stuff available now or even particularly good at all.
But most of the new stuff isn't sexy , so we'll all just keep looking for more obscure almost affordable vintage garbage.

$2000 and the auction still has 4 days and 15 hours to go.JP! wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 19:48Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I do not see the appeal of blue Selectric keys on these 3278/3279 boards. The standard white ones look so nice already.

These are the New Bitcoin Boys.
They've now got the purchasing power that their own parents never had. Hence, why goods on Ebay are going at those levels.
Not going to stop any time soon. Until they start battling amongst themselves for the super high stratosphere, which leaves the seller in a very comfortable position.

I dunno man, I've been looking at the wave, expecting it would break, for years now. Let me mark this one for claim chowder, in case we all need a pick-me-up when our post-crash bargain bonanza fails to show up on cue.

You've got lots of people, sitting at home, literally in front of a computer all day, with money piling up. Seems natural to me.
Once the pandemic eases up I bet plenty of folks will be trading keebs for plane tickets.

Travel is exactly what I was thinking about with the "opportunity cost" concept in the Space Cadet thread. $10k would put a serious dent in our next Scotland trip and my wife would get a lot more enjoyment out of that than she would get from me having another cool keyboard. Our mantra is "we can buy anything we want, but we can't buy EVERYTHING we want so we have to choose."

With the money you save versus the 10k job, was thinking a fun car.. something useless with only 2 seats and the engine in the wrong end.
