Based on prima facie evidence I put it to you this is SPAM, dear brand new DT member!
Best mechanical mouse you can recommend!

Since this is spam anyway, I'll just hijack the thread to ask - what is meant by a mechanical mouse? I am confused about the mechanical part in the designation. If it uses optical switches, does it still count as a mechanical?
[Edit] To answer my own question:
1. Apparently, other regulars on here are confused by the 'mechanical' part as well:

2. According to another spammer in this sub-forum, apparently mechanical mice is meant as in mice who use a ball for moving:

The vile idea has gotten its hooks into you! (Or should I say spike proteins?) The spammer has a nose for clickbait, which is fuelled by impalpable FOMO the like of this.
There is no such thing as a non-mechanical mouse. Certainly not in the sense that people are missing out on a golden age of “good” mice which came before. There is no 80s IBM Model F of mice compared to the domes over membrane of (not even) today. There is no scourge of chiclet mice. They’re honestly better now than any time last century.
Clickbait. This is just that.
(Anticipating someone posting a history lesson re: the cost of Douglas Engelbart’s bespoke prototypes, but don’t pretend you don’t get what I mean!)

Oh no! You might as well excommunicate the person who makes the Keymacs keyboards from the community too, since they offer prebuilts with loose SKCM switches that have been "shucked" from boards, and then upcharges them for more than they got them for like a "scalper" would.raoulduke-esq wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 15:47Spammers are welcome in the DT Discord- just not shuckers/scalpers.
Example:
Cost of Prebuilt Keymacs + 88 Matias switches: 1388 euros
Cost Prebuilt Keymacs + 88 SKCM Brown switches: 1888 euros
Cost of 88 SKCM Brown switches: 500 euros
Get your pitchforks out everyone! Time to ban everyone who has ever "shucked" a keyboard for its switches or has "scalped" Alps switches for more than they paid for them. /s
You and these other folks that peddle this nonsense about "shucking" and "scalping" are so cringeworthy its unreal. Get real and get over yourself.

For conventional mice I agree. Older trackballs have a certain special something though.Muirium wrote: ↑27 Jan 2022, 21:58There is no such thing as a non-mechanical mouse. I'd actually like to read a full exposition of your viewpoint. No snark, no sarcasm. Just an explanation of how you view this basic controversy and your own place in the keyboard community.

“Wooof those are pricey” is some quality consumer feedback, too! Many companies hire market research to work that out, but yours isn’t rocket science is it?
FWIW: I’m not fussed by your prices myself. Not my kind of product. Just calling it as I see it.

You seem very defensive about it all. Not just in this thread, but overall. How come? What's the criticism usually directed against your business that's put you in this defensive mode?
(Some people in the retro computing community think of it as 'scalping' when one separates the original keyboard from the computer and sells it off separately. I wonder if there's a parallel there? [replace computer->keyboard and keyboard->switches])

Yup. Just kick back and take pride in your work, if you’re proud of it. Rolling around on the floor with your detractors ain’t a reassuring look!

Ask the people who so desperately wish to mark me as some kind of a villain in this community every opportunity they get.
Maybe you'll get your answer. It's getting old.

"i provide a service"
I'm going to start a service where I open people's mail so that they don't have to and when people get mad at me I'll simply tell them that I'm providing a service for people too lazy to open their own mail and therefore I'm immune to any criticism at all.
You're rent-seeking about keyboards and getting mad when people point out how shitty that is.
