I won an ebay bid for this board a few days ago for a very good price Got it in today, decided to document my 'restoration' and show everyone this cool find. This is my first Cherry board with dyesub caps. They are very nice and I now understand the hype around them (Don't think I would pay $1000+ for them though) Unfortunately the board came missing the 5 key from the numrow, so if you have a spare/know somene that does, please let me know
Keycaps and case were a bit dity, nothing really crazy
Oh yeah and the pcb... pretty disgusting.
After cleaning the pcb +case & caps It was all finished.
Here it is with its brother, Cherry G81-3007 HAU with a G80 pcb.
The MY on this board feels miles better than my g81-1800, quite nice actually. Still probably going to thow a g80 pcb in here though

I happen to have a numrow 5 (+%) from an incomplete dyesub set, but as far as I remember the keycap colour of the NCR keyboards differs slightly from that of "normal" dyesub caps. I would have to check against my own G81-3077 SAF
Unfortunately, ATM my stuff is stored in another place, so that could last a bit…

I'm in no rush so take your time.kbdfr wrote: ↑29 Jul 2022, 18:43I happen to have a numrow 5 (+%) from an incomplete dyesub set, but as far as I remember the keycap colour of the NCR keyboards differs slightly from that of "normal" dyesub caps. Congrats! It's still my favourite 3000 series casing all these years later. You've been looking for one of these for a while, right?

If anyone has a half NCR dyesub set and is willing to part out caps for those missing certain caps like OP and I, please let me know! I am looking for an F12 cap

Correct! I've been searching for a g81 with dyesubs for around a year now, NCR being one on my list. Couldn't really afford it that long ago but now I finally have my hands on one. Like I previously stated, I'm not finished yet

Now checked it against my G81-3077 SAF and the cap is indeed a slightly lighter hue as the NCR ones.
On the other hand, i) the odds of finding that one cap with a perfect colour match certainly tend to 0, and ii) a board looks probably better with one slightly differing cap than with a missing cap.
But… shipping (Germany>US) would be ~15€/$
