I did a bit of searching, and the Oberhofer stuff (keyboards, mice, monitors) were very limited production. Slap a wooden case and a Beverly Hills address on some otherwise-very-ordinary stuff so the wanna-be-rich-bastards can feel important about themselves. Actually we need more stuff like that because we know what happens when they have nothing to keep them preoccupied.Polecat wrote: ↑14 Oct 2022, 17:35Right you are, you can see the Oberhofer name on the second one.jsheradin wrote: ↑14 Oct 2022, 17:12I bet they're related to Oberhofer boards which are white alps.

I wouldn't go quite that far…
Has Stackpole vibes to me.
Maybe I’m wrong and it’s Micro Switch Hall effect or something else proper vintage, but there’s so many god awful waffle frames from that era in lower end gear with deceptively nice (yet useless) caps.

Nice thread pull. No apparent search term, too. Wouldn’t have found that without reading GH regularly, I’m sure.
SKCC… are down the middle for me. They’re the one switch I can think of that got better, much better, when it was miniaturised in the DIN standard apocalypse of the eighties. Not bad though.

Speaking of white whales, here’s a Symbolics:

I’m guessing this will go above $1k.

Symbolics are always prized. Don’t know why, exactly, but this goes way back.

Gateway Anykey with a UK ISO layout in what seems to be pristine condition (albeit untested) for 100 GBP. I was seriously considering it but I am not a fan of the layout and the shipping cost to the US is pretty high.

Unfortunately it's winkeyless with quite a bit of yellowing. But there is another one, NOS, for... $239 $179? Man, these rubber dome boards designed decades ago are getting more and more expensive. You could almost buy a Topre for that money... waaaaait a second.hellothere wrote: ↑10 Nov 2022, 20:57Here's one in the US: https://www.ebay.com/itm/294447766064. You could make an offer on it. My HHKB, open box, was around $170, IIRC. My Realforce R2, a return to MechanicalKeyboards.com, was cheaper, also IIRC. Both bought this year, also also IIRC.
My memory IS faulty .
I have a Gateway AnyKey without caps, cord (I do have the cord somewhere), or stabilizers. There may be other problems, too. Three keys on each side of the spacebar, so I assume it's Win-keyed. It's a tad yellowed. It's been sitting for at least a year, if not a couple years. If anyone wants it, pay shipping and it's yours. I'm in the US.

MX mounts on the one I have. There might be some size issues with some of the keys, but if you get one of those 122+ keycaps sets, like this one from Tai-Hao, I'd bet that you'd get enough that'd fit. Tai-Hao also can help to fit the appropriate keys, if you contact them.
I might have some caps, somewhere, but I guarantee that there was one that had a broken stem and I'm probably missing some others.
I don't think the Gateway feels terrible or anything. There are just a bunch of other keyboards that are better. I get that a lot of folks like the Macro thing, too.
