It's a Compaq monitor and keyboard. The computer is a laptop in a docking station.

Looks very similar to the Compaq Enhanced board I have with Keytronic dome with sliders. Not a very nice thing to type on.

If it's not that, it's very likely an RT101 with NMB dome with sliders:

What I find interesting about his photo is he's an under the wrist watch wearer. I'm into watches also.

Looks like a black resin Casio strap. What I see would match a Casio F-91W, but there are other watches that differ from it only slightly that it also could be.
He has also been confirmed sometimes having worn a Casio Forester FT-600WB-5A, but that can't be the watch in the picture because its watchband is not all black.

(I've been nerding deeply into Casio watches recently after having ordered a Sensor Watch. replacement PCB with programmable microcontroller.)

Looks like the Compaq laptop and docking station I was issued by an employer in 1995. It was weird enough it would only boot special Compaq Windows 3.1. Had a mushy rubber dome keyboard of some sort. And, after all these years, I remember the laptop was soooo sloooowww... and then it would "go to sleep" in some kind of low power mode, and took geological ages to come back to life. I felt like picking up the mouse and shouting "HELLO? COMPUTER?" like Mr. Scott in that old Star Trek movie.

If the picture is from 1995-ish, then Carter would have only been around 70 then. "Only", since I'm closing in on that age myself.

After finding a page on the Department of Homeland Security web site that said the Casio F-91W was the official watch of the Taliban, and that members who didn't have watches of their own were issued them, I picked up an F-91W next time I needed a watch. Apparently they're made for people with very small wrists; I had to use the last hole on the strap. When eventually broke. It turned out a replacement strap cost almost as much as another watch - they were going for around $10 at the time - so I replaced it with a different watch.
