Red keycap Ideas needed

Sleabo

Hi
I need some ideas on what to engrave and infill 50 red keycaps with.
Once the design has been chosen I will put up on our website and also send the new keycap to the designer along with a few other freebies.
Thanks
Sleabo

Red cap, that logo in white.

I know you can't do it because of the detail but this would make ripster happy.

Perhaps only the white portion and emblem if the hat sprite is too complicated.

Alternatively:

With colors inverted.

Red or reddish you say? Why not Zoidberg?

How about dice? I realize it wont be translucent, but with infill's that would look authentic!

Yes this might work. Might cost a lot more to manufacture though
Would this be popular if I could do it?

putting down a vote for the zoiberg, that is genius!

As for dice...I dont see the point. Not useful as number row or number pad keys since you can only get to 6.

It would be pretty cool if the four sides of the die key were done as well... is that what was meant?

That was not my intention, but would be extremely cool if it was possible

+1 for Zoidberg, would copyright be an issue though?

Translucent ones are much more appealing than regular ones.

From the right, 2 SP doubleshot Esc keys, WASD red blank and ebay PBT cap.
The keys in the place of F2, F3, F4 are what I made from dice. You can see the translucent ones stand out.

I don't know.
It's pop culture. Like Pulp Fiction and Star Wars.
Oh wait...some Star Wars ICs got cancelled because of copyright issues, didn't they?
But I think it was only for the logos.

I hardly think a stencil of a stormtrooper's head would be an issue.

Colors would need to be inverted here.

Also been thinking about taking the nes / nes advantage buttons :

These would preferably need to be done as two separate keycaps (A and B), red on gray, with just a circle and A or B on the side. I'm fond of that stick (still on my desk with a USB adapter for some gaming) and would really love having corresponding keycaps.

I don't know...
I actually expect keycaps legends to at least give an idea of what is going to happen when I press them.
Skulls, dice... why not a coffin or a toilet lid, or a cheeseburger?

Different colors / shapes / texts on a key makes the key stand out. It makes it easy for users to distinguish the key that you use often and not to be confused with other neighboring keys. In views of information theory, it plays a role of decreasing the likelihood of being confused (if you put in one or two keys and are perfectly aware of what the key does that is...)

I don't really understand why you have such a hard time understanding people's desire for different caps. I talked about practical reason why you want some colors in keys above, but the current trend is more like putting pictures on t-shirts. It is a way of expressing yourself. I thought French were very understanding in this regard.. no?

Great idea! It would be a shift key, of course, kbdr.

I do have a few keycaps which optically stand out on my keyboard. And still their legends at least suggest their function.
But perhaps my preference is due to the fact that I actually use my keyboard.

The question is, of course: would lifting the lid reveal the switch?

Just my 2 cents for a few proposals (grabbed on the web and reworked a bit)

A probably impossible idea would be something like the house lannister simplified symbol without any text.

Image

Probably too complex though

I already posted Game of Throne ideas at Geekhack when I was DebtFreeLannister, he of low stature but jolly disposition.

Sorry if i unintentionally nicked an idea ripster.
Im sorta new to Deskthority.net, and geekhack is well... not there at the moment so i couldnt really check.

Im sorry if im stepping over someone elses ideas or if some of them have already been done. Im sorta new to the mech keyboard "scene?" so i only have this thread for reference.

Alternative red keycap engraving ideas could be:

Red hat or the fedora from those

Image

the V for vendetta logo, with reversed colours

Image

The guy fawkes mask

Image

The Dinosaur skeleton or the head from the jurassic park logo, without all the filler of course:

How about the text "DO NOT" "PRESS" in yellow? A little boring, perhaps, because it has been done before.. but has it been done on a keyboard?

Then it would just be the Swiss flag. :|

How about something like this? Not sure if that'd be possible, I don't know the full process that goes into keycap making and the possibilities

Image

The logo from mirrors edge would be cool too, always a fan of that game

Image

And lastly you could invert the "II" thing in the Mafia II logo

Image

As you can tell I'm a gamer, I just got all these ideas from my Steam games list. Of course there's always the copyright infringement to worry about, but I don't think it's that big a deal

EDIT: I'm also an avid supporter of the Zoidberg key
