The flag stands for Japanese imperialism during WWII.
If you respected people in Korea, China, and other invaded countries, you shouldn't post this disgusting flag.

Apologies for the offense... I do know the history of the image, but found myself ignorant of the feelings surrounding it. My assumption was that it's common usage in sports, advertising, and the current Japanese military wouldn't be so prevalent if it was so hated, and strongly associated with WWII atrocities. There are MANY flags past and present which could rightfully be considered offensive to wronged parties, and I looked at modern prevalence as a hint. I was quite wrong.

Live and learn. Truly no offense was intended.

Even if it is the other way round, of course you picture reminds of the Nazi symbol.
And is of course intended to.

Lighten up, I am sure that he intended it as a joke, and to point out that there are symbols that are offensive to some, but not to others.

The swastika symbol is thousands of years old and has meanings in many religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Falun Gong etc., and can be found in ancient artifacts everywhere in Europe, of origin being Roman, Celtic, Norse, etc. Even the word "swastika" is ancient, from the language sanskrit. It still means many positive things for people in India, China, Japan, etc. where you can still see it everywhere as a good-luck symbol. It was popular as a good-luck charm in the western world in a few decades right before there was a Nazi party.
It is not a Nazi symbol. The Nazis just took a symbol that was popular at the time and perverted it. Besides, the Nazi had it mirrored, facing right and rotated to stand on a corner. This swastika is standing on a side and is facing left, as is the most common when used for religious purposes.
