Using a German keyboard in the US/UK

Sorry for the n00b question but, I live in the UK, and if I was to purchase a keyboard with a German layout, replace all the keycaps with blank black ones, and then change the keyboard language in windows to german(Sorry I meant English), then Will I basically have a UK layout keyboard?

As UK also uses ISO layout, yes. But you would likely leave your windows input at English/UK
US would be a different story
