I considered it, and I think deskthority is better. I recommend it.

It is because our wiki is better. Especially once we copied everything ripster has been accumulating at geekhack.

I think both are great forums, but they've got their differences, and if I need to find something out about something, I know I'd want to check both sites, because of the varying communities, threads, etc.
Although I do like Geekhack's wiki system, it seems that now it's gotten a bit.... bloated, almost?

The Geekhack Wiki has always been scattered because a lot of people don't know how to do one properly.
Speaking of which, if you need another Wiki editor I recommend another EU member, Ekaros, to start working on yours.

I have given up at organizing specialized group buys on geekhack. People are too whiny and demand too many variants/changes/versions/whatnot. Just look at the past 2 keycap group buys... round two ended in a disaster. Round 3 started well, then took 6 months and now feels like its never happening, with more variants and more confusing sets than alps colors.
I decided against posting my newer group buys on geekhack purposely.

When organising group buys just tell people to STFU. "This is what's getting ordered, are you in or out?". Like the KBC poker buy right now. Sure, people can whine all they want about not having ISO available. Fuck em. Clearly the buy isn't for them. If we'd of had a thread asking "We're thinking about making an order for a customised Deskthority keyboard. What would you like in a custom Deskthority keyboard" it would be 72 pages long and filled with pictures of japanese and korean women, over used memes and we'd never get anything done.

I blame Group 3 on being a disaster because a German is in charge.
Speaking of which how is that Hanzo Steel Spring Group Buy going?

The original company I worked with stopped replying to me. I think they thought I was trolling them when I complained that the spring makes a very audible sound. I guess there is only so far you can push these guys around.ripster wrote: Speaking of which how is that Hanzo Steel Spring Group Buy going?

That is exactly what I'm doing with the new group buys.Brian8bit wrote:When organising group buys just tell people to STFU. "This is what's getting ordered, are you in or out?". Both forums are great, but deskthority suits me better because it has ( or it will have ) more European users.
This fact leads to :
- More european ebay links
- better, faster & cheaper shipping
- ISO !! xD
so all in all less problems.

I find this board to be a bit redundant, to be honest.
From what I have seen, there are only a few members here who are not members of Geekhack.
Webwit, apparently .. I am supposing for personal reasons that most of us never got to know. Why?
(thx for the geekhack-specific japanese pr0n btw! )
If/when this board has grown big enough, people will whine just as much here in group buy threads, there will be just as much trolling etc. The amount of mess on a board is often mostly a function of size.
Technically, there are a few features of Geekhack that I miss here. Ctrl-commands in the editor, the subboard a topic belongs to being shown in the editor, etc.

Maybe so, that is why the target group is supposed to be different to begin with.Findecanor wrote: The amount of mess on a board is often mostly a function of size.
