I own two pures (but really only use one) and the built quality is not overwhelming. I had to resolder an LED on one and the caps aren't very durable. Typing is great, as long as you can get used to the FN-Layer, esp. the arrow keys.
As the build problems are all related to the backlighting (incl. the crappy caps), i'd suggest getting an unlit version, but they seem to be harder to find (could not find any with blue switches when i bought them).
A college has a white Choc with lasered keys and I think the quality is higher. But I wanted my arrow keys not down in the corner

I think Choc Mini only appears to be higher quality because it is plate mount, not because its build quality (which I think is worse).

I had something written up, but I accidentally hit back. I ragequitted after that. I'll just summarize in few words. Plastic felt cheap and uneven switch alignment. Sure it may feel sturdier, but that's apples and oranges comparison vs a PCB mount. I won't dispute that those 3 Vortex boards are disconcertingly light.
