I have a couple HHKB pros (love the layout - use one at home and one for travel), and recently got a realforce 45g. I really love the build quality of the RF and this has become my work board. Anyway, I then noticed that elitekeyboard got the 55g RF in stock. I was wondering whether the 55g is significantly different enough that I should give it a go? I am a developer/scientists so and just typing (no gaming). Are the 55g going to have great tactile feedback or just be tiring? Would love to hear experiences from those that have owned any of these.

You will certainly notice the difference between 55g and 45g. They're definitely more tactile, but for me at least, extended typing on them was fatiguing. I think 55g is probably right on my limit though. I used it for a couple of years before trading it for an IBM SSK which I sold not long after I got it because it was just too tiring.

So what do you use now?

Variable 87U at work and a uniform 30g board at home. I keep telling myself I'll get a 45g 87U next but rare Topre boards keep popping up :)

interesting, yeah the 30g would definitely be too light for me. but to each his own. where are you finding the rare ones?

Yahoo Auctions Japan mostly - sometimes the Sony editing boards appear on eBay though.

How did you get the uniform 30g and what is the model name?

now the question is... where do I find them in Europe? keyboardco only has 86U 45g uniform (old model?) and 87U variable. (ANSI layout of course)

Comparing the 45 with the 55 I prefer the 45, because they are less tiring. So I sold my 55 and bought a 45. Still... the HHKB2 rules them all :D
