looking at SP pricing it seems that if you stick with their default layout the cost is lower. So I believe that I'll stick as much as possible to their layouts. I hope to be able to start this group buy by the end of this week.

The green is there, brown could maybe be mixed from the 2 browns they have. There is no such dark red as would be required:

What is RBC? I don't have it on my sample ring. Is it some secrect color Melissa found somewhere in their repertoire?

Unfortunately the color rings are not complete of all colors, they send you what they have the availability in that particular moment. If you ask Melissa the missing colors she may send them to you when they become available.7bit wrote:What is RBC? I don't have it on my sample ring. The only complete collection is on SP website I believe (where I've got the color codes for my color chooser)

8th from left in row 2 should be the brown. I've only the very dark (almost black) on the ring. The lighter brown is what I have and is way off.
Hope they've got the color in stock. Otherwise they have to order it which adds to the costs ...
VAV for the green.
They should engrave their colorcodes or put stickers on them!

What do you think of something like this?
each blank has to be ordered separately (that's why there's no ergodox and no additional blanks in ISO kit)

That works for me. Is there a two-switch 200 in that list of blanks? And can we have blanks in all colours? (Though looking at some of the modders sets, I might not need as many blanks as I feared).

More colors for blanks I don't know, depends on how many orders we get. I could add all the colors but if we don't reach a good tier they would all become browns.

wow! the seal of the squirrel!
I'm just trying to reduce the number of kits... maybe I could place the deep dish'ed keys in the alpha kit... and I could waive the additional 1u keys (muahahaha! kidding!)

Move the F1-F12 keys out of the alpha set.Why do you split them accross 2 sets?
Please make text uniformly centered!
What does 1.25 units CAPS LOCK do amongst those 1 and 1.5 units keys?
The whole thing is now a random mix. Please go back to the first kit-partition. It was more logical!
Again
Make a STANDARD kit for those normal people!
Make these additional kits:
ALPHA
MODIFIER100
MODIFIER100/RED
MODIFIER125
MODIFIER125/RED
MODIFIER150
MODIFIER150/RED
NUMPAD
FUNCTION

BLANK175

because that's how SP split the alpha and mods and as far as I can tell if you keep that layout they are cheaper. If that's not the case of course I'd prefer to keep the function row out.7bit wrote:Move the F1-F12 keys out of the alpha set.Why do you split them accross 2 sets?
They are all centered, the not centered ones are left-stem'ed keys7bit wrote:Please make text uniformly centered!
It has always been there. Very little changed in that kit.7bit wrote:What does 1.25 units CAPS LOCK do amongst those 1 and 1.5 units keys?
it's very similar to the original but now we have alpha.7bit wrote:The whole thing is now a random mix. Please go back to the first kit-partition. It was more logical!

The first attampt was not perfect but had some logic. This now is total ****.
The first kit is no ALPHA kit as it should be. Put the function keys in or out but not a few here and a few there. Also, the space bar is still in there. Space is in the ALPHA kit which is stupid. Put the for many people useless 6.25 units space bar into the STANDARD kiy for 104/105 key keyboards (with or without numpad) if you like, but into the ALPHA kit it does not make sense.

I don't want to sound like a broken record... but that's how SP splits alpha and mods. I kept their layout.7bit wrote:The first attampt was not perfect but had some logic. This now is total ****.

I OK, I'm out of it.
I forced a lot of people to buy a lot of stuff they don;'t need, but:
Space bars where sold separately.
There existed
STANDARD125 and STANDARD150 kits.
MODIFIER, FUNCTION, NUMERIC kits etc.

aren't standard SP layouts cheaper? looking at various quotes it seems they are.
I believe we can live with a couple of spare keys if we actually paid less for the kit. Again, if in your experience this is not the case, I bow before your wisdom.

Um... what's the price differential between the SP default KIT1 and a pure alpha kit (i.e., Kit 1 - spacebar and F-keys)? Some pricing information would be useful at this point.
If the price difference _is_ substantial, we then come down to the question of whether whoever receives the stuff from SP is willing to break/combine kits into more logical arrangements (and I do see the logic of 7bit's suggestions) and work out some way of spreading the cost of the inevitable left over keys from this approach.
I'm not sure that, if it was me, I'd be willing to do that, but it all depends on the price differential, I suppose.

I don't know exactly but the full TKL keyboard seems to cost less than the old kit5 (plum mods) with twice the keys. Also, as I said many times, I can't ask my US proxy to sort too many keys/kits. We started with 3/4 kits and we are already at 9 + blanks.Piers Cawley wrote:Um... what's the price differential between the SP default KIT1 and a pure alpha kit (i.e., Kit 1 - spacebar and F-keys)? sincerely it doesn't seem so terrible to me. If you want a TLK you pick 1 and 2. If you want winkeyless, or you want to swap caps/control or you need ISO or tsangan you pick 1 2 5. If you want strange layouts you get 1 5 and 7 (and you can skip 2). I know you get some spare keys but at least you helped lowering the overall cost and helped the proxy not going crazy with millions of combinations.
Now that I see it I could place the default control/caps switch kit in kit 2 maybe.
If this is really unacceptable to you, make a layout, I'll send it to the proxy, if it's good for him, it's good for me.

I would be fine with this configuration as well. I only have one single problem with this. You've left out the brown DCS ISO Enter…
I hope you simply forgot it. I don't want strange green Enter keys on my keyboard…

mmmh you are right, don't know where to put it though. have to think about it. I could place the 3 iso enters and shifts in a kit of their own... but iso enters are pretty expensive.RC-1140 wrote:I would be fine with this configuration as well.
