DSA Retro Set (SHIPPED!)

How much will shipping approximately be? Or are all the sets for the Europeans sent at once to someone here and will be spread then, or will each set will be sent individually from the US?

From a purely financial perspective, it would make things easier with customs to send each order individually from the US, I hope it will be the chosen solution.

I'm not sure that I'll be able to follow up on the euro language set, I'll see once we will have more accurate info on pricing. That would be a shame since kits, profile and colors are very interesting.

I also have the feeling that they overlooked the extra kit, it's very likely that we would have to remove some of the keys in that kit as well.

I'm not entirely sure they keep tooling forever. Anyway we would have close to 80 keys for the language pack, even if they already have 40 of them, at $25 per legend would be pretty expensive.

While this discussion is largely irrelevant for me, the message from SP does make me curious if they have all of the legends available in one of the other key profiles/families. Her wording specifically called out the DSA family, leaving the possibility open that they might have the legends in another family/profile... which I guess is also irrelevant, since this is about DSA keys... anyway, sorry it didn't work out.

Melissa was kind enough to make a counter offer. She offered to make a pricing like the following for the Language Pack with included legend expenses:

These prices would include both keys and legends. thoughts?

the only reasonable tier would be 75. looking at stats it means that every European has to buy 2 kits minimum. but bear in mind that that quote is for 76 keys (ie not all EU languages).

I'd start the group buy right away. If we reach a decent tier we proceed with the order otherwise we cancel it.

Consider that it will be a different GB from the Retro set. regack offered to handle that as US proxy.

I just looked up the statistics and I wonder why you don't add $2 to the ALPHA kit and take the resulting $600 to reduce the price for the language kits.

Just make the high quantitiy kits a bit more expensive so you can make the language kits and other necessary things a bit cheaper.

that something I would have liked to do, actually I would have already done if it were up to me!

samwisekoi is both collecting money and shipping orders. I have no control over the financial part of the GB. Just to be clear, I'm not making any profit from this. I don't even know if I'll get a free set for me.

I would have handled all aspects of the GB if there was a keycap company in EU.

BTW: I'm unsure if you have any extras in these prices for shipping to the distributor etc. It is not wise to tell people prices which must be raised afterwards because costs are higher than you thought. So I would add some buffer.

Nevertheless, if you make some kits $1-$2 more expensive, you could get more than $1000 together to cover extra costs for language kits. With these language kits more people will buy the standard kits and pull down the prices again ....

I really have to bow down and pull my hat!

This is a really great group buy you are doing!

yes, the end cost will be way higher than the raw keycaps cost. I'll have to do some math, but since I have no XP in group buys I had no idea how much to overcharge, so I preferred to show the barebone SP price and make the final price when the GB is over.

I would have loved to manage all aspects of this thing, because this is a key set I really like... it's my creature... and I'm so scared to leave my baby to other's hands. Hope the second half of the GB goes smooth as much as the first.

Could anybody who has experience with gbs give a rough estimate? I don't like the idea of having to shrink my order if the costs that will be on top if this will be too high.

I would be fine with this... adding $1-2 to Alpha, TKL and TKLPlum might work out well and spread the extra cost across the largest group.

for kits close to a lower tier, we are considering at the highest price (lower tier) cost because many won't pay. Apart from that, maybe a 10/15% to cover all expenses (packaging, shipping from SP to samwisekoi, paypal fees) + shipping

but it's mere speculation.

If SP does not change their mind and raises prices, shipping costs to the one who will do shipping should be way less than $1500.

You need package material etc, but you could add these to the shipping costs to the members and even distribute shipping to the distributor directly on a per group buy member base.

As of slightly rasing the prices to help important kits:
Just round them up and add $1-$2 depending on how much they are already.

You might be able to lower these amounts as more people buy the now cheaper language kits etc.

I am NOT collecting money. Money goes directly to samwisekoi and language pack will be a new GB (because sam doesn't want any more kits), so there's no way for me to "trick" on that.

So you are floating the idea of subsidizing your ISO language kits with ANSI sales? I wonder how people that have already bought kits would feel about that.
