Deskthority has a new owner (again)

Any way to contact the Brown Brothers? I would be happy to write some actual keyboard related blog posts, stuff that would bring in actual clicks rather than AI slop

Ironic that this kind of thing would happen to a community so focused on preserving great stuff.
There’s no shortage of people here who would do a great job running the forum and keep a good thing going.

It looks like the "View quoted post" button recently changed to use Font Awesome.
See this quote for example.
https://web.archive.org/web/20250115054 ... bc#p521801
The javascript assets version went from 45 to 52.
https://web.archive.org/web/20250115054 ... version=45
assets/javascript/core.js?assets_version=52
In doing a text diff of these two files, there is a change to the CAPTCHA code. I wonder if registration will be fixed soon.
Are there any other changes people noticed?

@leadsquad registered less than 48 hours ago so unless they're someone from BBM doing a manual registration on the server, registration might be working now.
Not like that or even repairing the wiki is going to change much however.

For anyone wondering why this site was down (assuming it comes up again) or you're one of the administrators :

If you're going to use DNS servers for your domain which themselves have hostnames which are part of the same domain, you will need to configure the glue records for them in your domain registrar or this won't work .....

The wiki login uses this extension, the bug should be related to that:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PHPBB_Auth
As it gives a blank page when logged in, there's probably a PHP error which can be found in the PHP error log.
