Custom controllers?

Custom controllers. What are they for? How can I use one? What can I do with one?

I'm not really looking for buy and i'm already talking with bpiphany. I'm really talking about the usage.

Well, you use a custom controller either to scratchbuild a keyboard, or to reuse a matrix, either because the controller has more features or because there is no converter available.
If you hand-wire a keyboard you need some logic to use the matrix so you use a teensy or something else as a controller.
If you have a Filco, you reuse the matrix with a bpiphany's controller to extend it's functionality.
