I recently bought the cherry g84-4100lcmeu. According to the wiki the first letter designates the keycap type and quality. The wiki says the following: "L = Lasered PBT or POM". the first letter in the product code contains an L but when i pulled a keycap off it says ABS. the letters also seem to be lasered and not pad printed. they are kind of grey in color and grainy.
Are there exceptions to the stated rule for cherry product codes?
g84-4100lcmeu has ABS keys despite article number

Can you post a picture of that keycap ?
I don't think there's much investigation going into anything that's larger than G81 so this might just be something no one cared about until now.

Yes, here are the pictures. If you look closely it says ABS on the back.

Well then it's time to extend the wiki article.
L still stands for lasered in general but I guess we can drop any assumptions regarding the material of the keycap then
L-caps are just a very mixed bag. Thick PBT L-caps are pretty awesome
