Now I'm thinking of getting a notebook, but I want something that has a keyboard that is at least usable, so which models have that? Will I have to pay an arm and leg to get something decent?
Notebooks with decent and usable keyboards?

I was at my dad's place last week fixing computers with his desktop and while I was waiting for the HDD to clone, I was using his notebook to surf the web. He was looking at me funny because I was cussing at the laptop's POS keyboard. Granted it is a cheap Dell he brought at Walmart almost five years ago, but I had to slowly use the two finger method and looking at the damn thing to even be able to type on it.

Lenovo is known for its quality laptop keyboards.
I like the Thinkpad T series ultrabook, the current model is the T460S. You could save some money if you try to hunt down the previous model, the T450S, which had a few different revisions. Mind you, I don't own one of these, but I kept coming back to it when I was looking around. Displayport would be another requirement for me, which narrows the field quite a bit.

+1. Just got one of these T460s recently, it is awesome, it has a discrete graphics card with decent performance.Tuntematon wrote: Lenovo is known for its quality laptop keyboards.

Looks like some of System76's models are made by Clevo, so Sager, Pro-Star and Eurocom would also be possible sources.
Can't speak for all their models, but the keyboards on their Ivy Bridge models (so 5 years ago) were made by Chicony (chiclet) and Sunrex (back-lit), respectively. Never tried the backlit one, but the chiclet was decent for a scissor-over-membrane board.
Otherwise, you can't really go wrong with a ThinkPad.
Perhaps someone's made a monster gaming "laptop" with Cherry ML or Kailh low-profile mechanical switches?
