I want to buy a model M but I can't figure out how heavy it is just using gram weightings.
I have:
Cherry MX Blue
Whatever Alps the Apple IIe uses.
Model F
Alps SKBM Gray
Alps SKCM Salmon
BTC dome with slider.
What would be a general placement compared to these keyboards?
How heavy is the Model M using these keyboards I have:
-
- Location: n. bellmore, ny
- Main keyboard: Corsair K70
- Main mouse: Logitech M100 ambidextrous
- Favorite switch: Cherry MX Blue, going to try more.

This can be deceiving. By scientific measurements Model Ms are probably a bit heavier than most of what you listed, but they don't really feel like it. Personally, I think that heavier (ie the physical mass of the entire thing) keyboards make their switches feel lighter regardless of what the science says.

It's not that heavier than Model F, but it's initial weighting is heavy and slightly reduced key travel make the keyboard less favorable. You can check this out https://plot.ly/~haata/68
