HHKB Studio Thoughts?

Just wanted to ask any HHKB enthusiasts what are your thoughts on this?

Personally, HHKB without Topre is a pretty hard sell for me, especially with linear switches instead of tactile. Hot-swappable doesn't make up for that. Some of the other features on it like the track-pad and the gesture pads seem interesting, but I still think it doesn't justify the price for me.

Not sure where Fujitsu will take HHKB in the future, but I hope if they do abandon Topre they had better find a damn worthy successor.

Seems like this was just pfu trying to expand into a different demographic instead of the niche topre one, that being said a 60% mx board with trackpoint seems like an even smaller demographic than topre boards so it makes you wonder what the thought process behind this was..

The first HHKBs (pd kb01 and 02) were both fujitsu dome with slider boards, so hhkb hasn’t always exclusively used topre. And those switches are far worse than any mx switch.

I would be interested in getting a studio purely for the layout and the fact it has a trackpoint. But i absolutely wouldn’t pay the $300 price tag for something non-topre.

Mixed feelings.

I welcome Fujitsu wanting to push what a HHKB is forward. However, I use HHKBs because of the key feel. Topre switches in a HHKB chassis is a unique typing experience. I do rate the layout, but given the choice, I would use a full-size. I think my Pro 2s looks excellent, too. But with all that being said, I fundamentally use HHKBs for the key feel, so a HHKB without Topre will likely not rouse my interest. Curious to hear what other HHKB users think of this though.
