What's going on with Topre?

It seems in recent years their latest rubber-domes are going down in tactility/quality with the newer boards. I tried a HHKB Pro 2 and wished my Classic and Hybrid were as good. Now I hear from this guy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV-IcvLOvh0, that the latest Realforces now have keyloggers in them :| . And now some are saying the newer HHKB's are doing this too.

Can anyone shed light on what is happening? Will Topre still remain the Typing Emporer?

One can't "AI" without a "keylogger" and can't sell a new keyboard without "AI" - so we'll soon find "keyloggers" (real or imaginary) in every mass-produced keyboard. Like "FULL NKRO" before and "hall effect switches" and "8K" today.

Also that guy is dumb as a cork - keypress statistics isn't a "keylogger" and storing actual logs of keypresses requires A LOT more storage space than heatmap of keypresses.

Yes, this _can_ highlight your password - but c'mon, seriously? This is *way* into the tinfoil hat territory.

As for the rubber.. could be that new rubber is more "ecological" and doesn't contain "harmful chemicals" anymore which actually made rubber feel like rubber and not plastic. I do notice that older power cords (the ones that haven't disintegrated into sticky goo) are way more flexible.
Could be something else entirely too. I only (and accidentally) own a single old topre keyboard, so can't even tell if the difference exists :)

Not saying the Classic or Hybrid were bad, they just didn't feel as tactile. It might just be how the rubber ages too. I've heard they stiffen with age and that probably affects the tactility. Of course my Hybrid didn't feel as tactile as my Classic. So, there are differences between their new models too.

I actually have couple old rubber domes - sun type 5 and dell whatisitsname, with a contoured space.
Sun one haven't changed a bit - I actually like that key feel despite it not being "mechanical".
Dell.. well.. stiffer rubber just makes it _unpleasant_, not necessarily more tactile. But maybe the topre's spring support nullifies the unpleasantness.
