Due to extremely (good) weather conditions I have been trying out kbdfr's "wipe-on" retrobright method with pretty decent results, I'm posting these pictures because this NCR Cherry was soooo very yellowed that even in the pictures it's striking which is often not the case. 
A cable adapter will not work since this keyboard "speaks" the XT keyboard protocol that was introduced by IBM for their IBM Personal Computer model XT. Sure, don't thank me too quickly though, as you can see it involves quite a bit of work. Heh, yeah I've know about soarer's converter for a while, but haven't had the chance to really dive into it. Will a pro-micro controller work? I've got a couple of those lying around. You don’t have to be. Just unscrew everything, clean it, put it back together the way you found it and find the right adapter. There are some great tutorials on YouTube. The great thing about model fs is no matter how bad they are, you can get them looking beautiful again so long as the case isn’t busted.
