On the subject of green alps, does anyone have a board with particularly scratchy Alps Greens? I've seen it stated several places that they can't be cleaned and get the smooth feeling back, but I'd like to try if someone has some crappy ones that they aren't otherwise going to use. Any takers?
Now whether it's actually worth the hours it would take to clean a whole board worth, that's another matter. Guess it would depend on the result.

I do not, but I have designed switch tools that make possibly reduce those possible hours considerably as it can open switches in seconds. It really makes playing with Alps fun. I've designed one for linear Alps and one for all other Alps varieties.orihalcon wrote: ↑On the subject of green alps, does anyone have a board with particularly scratchy Alps Greens? I just used these little plastic things from Dremel because I had them around, but I want to buy some plastic for use in making these in -relative- bulk and selling them on eBay or running a group buy (I'd rather do this) for them.
I'm thinking either polyethelene or POM. These here are very flexible and resistant to acetone as well, so they're durable and won't snap if you sit on them or something, haha.
Any suggestions there from people who know plastics would be appreciated.
But yeah, these make switch swapping and experimenting so much more fun than the old toothpick method.
In regards to the scratchiness, I'd imagine an iso bath in an ultrasonic cleaner would clean the stems and housings well. An air blast into the bottom should rid the dust there. Might not need to soak the top one in isopropanol.
Then a dry film lube would be best. A friend of mine says Finish Line Extreme Fluoro if great for this. I have some molybdenum disulfide, but I'm not sure how well it sticks. I think a wet lube that dries to a film would be best if you ask me.

The 5160 doesn't have Blue/Green Alps. So don't panic.

Haha yep, it wasn 't me. Already have some vintage MX whites, myself, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if I want to keep them as Alps is more my thing.
The other keyboards offered were cool, but not enough sway for me to buy in. That ergo board is definitely interesting though.
I would not have minded the 5160AT if it were Alps, regardless of type. It's one of the few 84 keys that seem neat to me.
Another would be the Ortek 84 key F AT/XT layout board that I forget the name of.
Boards of that layout don't interest me all that much, but aside from the Zeniths and Leading Edges, it's rare to see other 84 keys for the most part.

Interested in a "/" cap from another SAD? Perhaps it could help getting a better price

Cure for SAGness above!photekq wrote: ↑http://www.ebay.de/itm/MECHANISCHE-KEYB ... SwG-1WzdmZ
This is rather tempting.. It's probably a little overpriced, but it's not something you see every day. Shame I have no money or I'd probably take it!
If anyone ends up buying it and they don't want the keyboard/box please let me know. I have a set of G81-3000SAG keycaps and I would LOVE to complete the set, even if it is just a G81.
Lovely, lovely UK ISO dyesubs.

Link terminal - Not a great price but MX Blacks: https://www.pcliquidations.com/p18206-link-50-120-000
MC3 Terminal - Looks like it might be mechanical: https://www.pcliquidations.com/p21940-m ... 3-terminal
Televideo - Keycaps say maybe Alps... Maybe dome: https://www.pcliquidations.com/p21939-t ... l-keyboard
Unbranded WYSE - interesting but expensive: https://www.pcliquidations.com/p18179-u ... 1-terminal
I never realized the scope of companies that used WYSE as an OEM for their terminals. I see Tandy (RadioShack), CLSI, Reynolds, Link... I know I've seen many others too. There are a ton of WYSE boards on this site but I didn't post them since they are pretty expensive as a buy it now.
