They're nowhere near as well-designed as Alps switches, with several glaring flaws, including being incredibly unreliable and actuation and tactility being very poorly matched up. They're also ultra-clicky, way louder than anyone but a click nut like me could endure xD .
I wonder if you'd like Alps SKCM Amber then? I haven't used Omnom Ambers myself, but I have e thieving suspicion that they are quite similar.
Looks like ABS to me, but they might be dyesubbed ABS? I love the metal back on that Omnom board. So sturdy-looking.
I have a board with omnoms and I definitely agree with that point on unreliable actuation. I love the tactility though.Chyros wrote:They're nowhere near as well-designed as Alps switches, with several glaring flaws, including being incredibly unreliable and actuation and tactility being very poorly matched up. That said I think they're a fun and interesting switch, if not the best I've ever tried. I'm quite interested about the cyan Omnoms though.
Chyros mentions that older key caps on Acer boards and the Silitek-made old logo Dell AT101 has dyesubbed ABS.
Did you really like Ambers? I think I'm the minority that doesn't like them. I might have to reevaluate them at some point. SKCM Lime (the Alps formally known as SKCM GreenRedmaus wrote:

The actuation isn't noticable unless you look for it though. I love the click and sound![]()
But ambers are the best alps switches I have ever tried. I plan to get even another apple iic for enough switches for a fullsize.

Doesn't it though? They are such exotic boards. Originally, when I scored the buy, I was so hyped on desoldering one for my Orion v2, but then I felt like I couldn't. TBH, I value vintages significantly higher up than I do modern boards in certain respects. I can't just tear apart a fascinating keyboard because it has rare switches. I don't even like desoldering blue Alps boards.
I don't think there is any... Cancel the deal, make a new one. Well, maybe the second highest bidder will take it

Seller declined offers up to $60, but then I had burned my 3 offers.
WOWOW! What nice caps.. even look cherry compatible, isn't it?
Could very well be, I like to dreamhypkx wrote:looks more like a wyse keyboard with mx blacksEngicoder wrote: Pretty sure this is quasi-ANSI space invaders. ANSI enter, but bottom row non-standard.

Yes, I've done some extensive research into this. These caps most often appear on old Acers but the Silitek '97SK has them too. The printing has no noticeable height difference, suggesting it's not pad printing, but SEM reveals it has altered surface topology, which would suggest it's not dyesub. However the material sinks into the material a considerable distance, more than dye sublimation. Considering it reaches into the material but doesn't show any noticeable height difference, laser printing seems impossible too. All we know is it's ABS and shows some characteristics of dye sublimation, which it looks like too. So I'm going with that in the meantime.
Goddammit they're not even expensive but their shipping is fucking horrible every time D: .
I am interested, price?
Wow, it looks like some gilded ancient relic or something.Tuntematon wrote: Another "Banana Edition" keyboard![]()
