Wow, that's a nice one :) I should have known to search DT first, but I'm still not 100% sure.

based on the font (look at J, size of * and +, slant of slash) I would say this might be micro switch. But I have not yet seen a MS space bar with a zero legend :?. And the font looks bold compared to the other two. Here are two which seem to have a different font:

edit: the more I look at them the more confused I am. The BRE AK in the last one looks pretty much exactly like one of my keycaps.

No one has grabbed that displaywriter... is there a reason? Seems pretty damn cheap to me.

I'd love to have that whole set up not just the keyboard, but it'd probably cost an arm and leg to ship that to the US even if he would.

I think the wasp nest has people worried about whether the keyboard would even work. It might be rusted solid inside.

The main issue is the seller only ships to the UK.

Very easy to get rid of them, they operate like bees, lots of smoke enveloping their home causes them to pick up their little runts and run away.

They won't return due to the smell of smoke. Somehow the insects are always way more smarter than us when it comes to avoiding smoke and fire :evilgeek: .

I had messaged the seller to say that I would pay the asking price and shipping to the US if they were willing.

No response so far.

Fire is definitely an excellent way of getting rid of the evil fuckers. Their wings burn really fast, so they just fall out if the sky. Used it once to kill a wasp in my room that wouldn't get off the ceiling lamp.

Might as well go all out and C4 the bastards.

I'd just pack it in a plastic bag and close it for a month, after some time they should be dead and you can open it. One month of waiting for a rare board shouldn't be the biggest problem :P

Are you guys all assuming the wasps are still alive? It could easily be a really old, completely dead wasp nest that's just going to be a pain in the ass to clean, but entirely possible.

EDIT: further evidence that I didn't notice before - 4 or 5 dead wasps on and around the 'toaster' floppy drive lol.

I can't imagine the seller is planning on shipping a keyboard/computer with an occupied wasp nest in it. It has to be vacant.

I would be most worried by rust, seeing as it is probably kept in a non temperature controlled room and the UK is not known for being dry. But who knows, I would like to see a resto video if anyone picks it up

I would love to pick up a complete Displaywriter - but I'll have to wait until one shows up in Canada (if ever) that I can pick up locally. I have a soft spot for IBM systems.

There was one on Kijiji a little while back for months. I tried to get that person to ship but they would not. I was interested because it was complete with documentation and software. It was a great example and it was in or around Montreal. I still regret that one but that was because of it's completeness. I still check once in a while because I'm not sure if it ever sold.

I still had emails from when I sent a message. It turns out it was a whole year ago (but I've seen it since). I emailed he seller and will see what happens. Probably sold but the slightest possibility it is not. We'll see.

I would probably take a road trip to Montreal just to pick it up if I had to. I went to Windsor about a month ago to pick up my IBM P70 system after-all and that was an over 4 hour drive each way.

SNUCI LET ME HAVE JUST ONE DISPLAYWRITER - you already have some! JK, I wish you luck with that one, it would be cool if they still had it.

Edit: Oh, I'm from Toronto - and that's a very generous offer, thanks!

I wanted one (or a couple) of these, but the seller doesn't ship to Canada. He doesn't even accept messages.

I've got a similar keypad, made 1974. It is very high quality. The black & white keycaps are amazing. I put them on my Bud keypad. (as seen in the DT header)

I have found that spraying with alcohol works great for immobilizing flies so that they can be swatted easily. They may be too fast to dodge me swatting them otherwise but they won't dodge the spray.
I am too much of a nice person to have tried that with wasps but I can imagine that it would also help them burn ...

This is only a great find in terms of the seller's 'guesswork' about the keyboards history and how 'rare' it is. They believe that the AT in this Dell keyboard should stand for Austin, Texas...where they were founded. I thought it was all a clever listing by someone having a laugh, but I'm not so sure anymore :P
