I've still found some good deals on eBay. Timing is a big part of it.

Have to agree, even I managed to come across some nice items (NIB) that weren't in the stratosphere of pricing.

For me anything that's secondhand and clearly abused doesn't deserve extreme gape-like pricing on any level, even if it's the dreaded "Blue-Alps" travesty.

I would of gone $500+ on a perfect - New In Box number BUT never for something that used and abused, my Mrs would kill me on the spot when she sees it's condition.

It was made to be used ONLY with Apple PC's way back when ADB was their socket connection.

Not bad quality keyboards but their idiot design is more for juveniles than adults, which I suspect was their original, target audience.

Shame about the switches. I rather like the way it looks.

The layout isn't bad, but the rubber band switches (which are MEI switches, FYI) combined with the tiny keycaps makes it much less of a joy to type on.

That's Flebay for you. If you list it at the current prices sold - you won't get any nibbles.

Like fishing, you allow the smaller minnows the opportunity to take a small bite, that means lower it down to something feasible, then watch slowly as more and more tip it upwards.

It's the GREAT Whites that will consume it all at your higher price, simply due to the right circumstances and of course that all elusive reality known as LUCK .

Should we need to post only 'buy it now' items from now on? I feel guilty for having posted Model M SSK engineering sample a few months ago, which ended +800USD...

Mechanical keyboards are mainstream now, as 002 mentioned in another thread, and so the rise in price is mostly due to the rise in demand. Of course that means that there are more keyboards available when people realize their value and start listing them for sale, but I seriously doubt that the supply is capable of keeping up with the demand.

Prices like that are usually the result of 2-3 individual buyers that sink a lot of money into the hobby.

looking at the German ebay for example, prices have overall been dropping over the past months.

I don't have any data to prove it, but at least from when I last bought boards in 2016 to now when I got back into the hobby, boards are overall more expensive than they were on eBay US.

It was more on the line of having a "new old stock with the trackpoint caps"

Anyway I've already cut some old Cherry lasered caps out. Thanks for the offer though and if my DIY starts to bother me I will definitely give you a shout.

YES I know it's quite nauseating giving Flebay so much free promotion but where else can the public of the WORLD gain access to any keyboard on this planet?

As soon as you create a place that allows anyone or everyone no matter where they live to buy or bid on these keyboards that we adore, it will soon become exactly like Flebay.

You could but most even from here, might go for what's available on Flebay at any given time which shall not include any "Buy-It-Now" category.

I’m with you, prices have no where to go but up. The supply is not going to get any bigger and the demand is going up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were 4000 dollar keyboards in 5 years time.
