[TRADED] [US-TX] [H] IBM Model F 104-key Unsaver [W] Kishsaver, something else?

Hello friends! As it turns out, I had a spare Unsaver.

I offered to trade this one. Tested working with an Orihalcon converter.

As a timestamp, I offered this photo of the beloved XMIT 236, purchased from elecplus several years ago. The other one was still dirty and not ready for its close up!

I may just hang on to it. But, in case someone has something special to trade, I would consider it.

Such interesting things might include:

IBM Model F 4704 62-key "Kishsaver" (original, not reproduction)
Space Cadet or Symbolics keyboard
...Nissho KB106DE?

Not really looking for a Beamspring, oddly enough, but perhaps.

I'm not really sure how this will go, or if these are even fair trades? Please let me know your thoughts!

Probably, did you have something else in mind? I had been after an Alps plate spring IBM JIS board for ages and finally found one last year!

I've received an offer for a very nice 5251 or a Juki Celavi keyboard. Contemplating!

I'm aware that my odds of getting a Space Cadet or a Symbolics board are slim to none. lispnick's reproduction is probably the closest I'll ever get.

I always thought the 3278s that Halvar, monster-toys, and larryniven had were super cool.

If someone else wants a 5251 or Juki Celavi and has some other board I would be glad to coordinate an n-way trade.

I'm in no rush, interested to see how this goes...

Wow... I'd never seen an unsaver on the market in any capacity beyond old cached listings from search engines when they used to be sold by elecplus at reasonable prices and one that Ellipse keeps up on his site as for sale even though he sold it forever ago at a less attractive price.

I was hoping I'd cross it off my list at some point but if those are the things you're looking for in trade the rarity must be such that even if I do ever see one for sale it will be for such an exorbitant price that I have to let it pass me by.

Yeah. I have really mixed feelings about pricing. I was hoping that, by doing a trade, someone who acquired one of these boards ages ago at a reasonable price would have an opportunity.

I thought I (mis?)remember reading/hearing that fewer than 1000 of the blue space cadet boards were made. Now that I try to find the source again I can’t so I might be trippin. Hopefully there are more than that in the world- same goes for unsavers...

Trade progressing. Muramasa is the lucky winner. Thank you for all the thoughtful offers of various Beamspring boards. I already have a pair of 3278 boards or else I would have gladly taken the trade.

No Kishsavers were offered. I reached out to someone who may have had one and received no response. I just went and bought a second hand Ellipse F62. Maybe I'll swap original barrels, flippers, springs, and key caps into it to get it even closer to the original.

No Space Cadet or Symbolics keyboards were offered. lispnick's recreations are probably the closest I will find, I'll probably just buy one at some point.

A KB106DE was not offered. I don't think anyone had one.

Once the trade is complete I'll post what I received in return. Thanks for the interest!

unsure how I missed this thread until today, very well as all the especially uncommon boards I have are SKCC so I'm not in a position to trade anyway. hopefully everyone involved in the trade is very happy with the arrangements. curious to know what sort of board you ended up trading for

Time for the big reveal!

As I mentioned, I received a number of offers for trades. The market value for an Unsaver seems to be somewhere between $1500 and $2500. But I didn't want cash for this Unsaver.

I also received a number of offers for some really beautiful 3278 Beamsprings! But as I mentioned, I already have one or two of those. I would have gladly taken a Beamship but they were not offered.

As stated earlier, Muramasa offered the most interesting trade, which turned out to be, a pair of boards.

The first was a 3277 Microswitch board with triple shots! Some of you know how I love Micro Switch boards even if conversion efforts are still on going. The board was previously mentioned here: viewtopic.php?p=443566#p443566

The second was a JUKI Celavi FK211, which, let's be honest, is probably the closest I'm going to get to a Nissho KB106DE. It's a gorgeous board in its own right and not a compromise by any means.
