IBM part numbers

While I was watching what happened to the wiki recently I saw what Daniel and tactica had made to the [wiki]IBM_part_numbers[/wiki] and I think that since this is such a huge topic it needed it's own thread.

I have a few questions first :

-how did you find the 1386853 and such obscure layouts ? did you just assume their part number by looking at the part number scheme of other keyboards ?

-do you guys plan to add the Japanese section of IBM ? the JX, Multistation and such. I can help you with that if you want ?

No assumption, that one and many others were found by checking official documentation from IBM. Take a look at the references. Documentation with lists of P/Ns are precious, a (complete) list of 4704 keyboards for example would be virtually impossible without that.

If you are going to contribute to this page, please use references in your entries whenever possible. That alone won't make the information correct, but it allows the reader to know that it isn't made up at least.

Also, a proper change log in your edits wouldn't hurt. This is best practices for every wiki editor anyway.

Right. All those should go in a separate article, the one about IBM P/Ns alone is becoming quite large without clones.

I hope to contribute to that list one day but for now, I just want to say that this wiki page is VERY helpful so thank you a lot for making it. It's one of the few wiki pages that I have bookmarked and I consult it whenever I encounter an IBM keyboard in the wild. Cheers!

FYI, there is a Visual Editor for MediaWiki. How well it manages tables, I have no idea - I quit the editor immediately whenever Wikipedia launches it for me.

Not any more than wiki/IBM_Enhanced_Keyboard#1392366 does, but whoever wrote that part sounds like he knew what he was talking about so I suppose it is OK to assume it's a BS keyboard

Here are some IBM 3205 Color Display Console F122 and M122 Type I (aka, two-size risers + straight DIN plug) keyboard part numbers, some of which I don't believe are on the wiki yet. The two Japanese Katakana ones are interesting, which are 124-key as per IBM's GA18-2339-1 document.

The Terra branding is really unique and beautiful, tbh i have searched the forum but wasn't able to find anything about it.
Sadly the partnumber is cut off at the end, but i think its something like 139576X.
Maybe someone knows the exact partnumber?
Is there a guide for stuff like that?

1395764 seems to be a model m122, but has blue label, while this one has a grey label. I have a few Model M with grey label and different dates and according to the weight of it my guess is around 1989 maybe even 1988.
It is slightly heavier then the rest, but that is due to the attached cable.

They are mainly producing budget oriented equipment and PCs. Sure the keyboard came with the logo attached? Maybe someone glued it on back in the day.

I bought it this way, but it really was glued on.
At first i thought it was welded because it was so tough to even lift it up.
Then I used a really thin and sharp knife and risked damaging it, but it came off.
I put the Terra branding back on the keyboard but moved it to the upper right corner.

The beige color matches perfectly maybe it was meant to be on the board maybe it wasn't, i really don't know.
But the board is still not common here in Germany, since i couldnt find any board with the same part number.
But i sure would want to know more about it, thanks for the wiki.
