I did a number of searches for that logo (again, not even sure if that is what it is), which kind of looks like a backwards-tilted E, but came up empty.

Yep, its indeed with metal back plate, the entire board is pretty heavy. Looks a bit like my NTC KB-6252EA keyboard (although the one you have pictured apparently has Cherry mounts as opposed to Alps.)
