I have no idea about the quality of this, or whether it is even legit, but here is something: […]
Legit? Reading the description, obviously not:
“Square black badge for ibm model m (reproduction)”
[…]This is an attempt at providing a the Model M enthusiast community with an affordable replacement black square badge.

IBM Model F50:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/234620955185
Any guesses how high it’ll go?
At some point a year ago I had a strong desire to get one of these. I guess the final price will be able to finally kill my desire completely.

I asked the seller whether they could ship to Denmark, and they replied that eBay wouldn't let them activate international shipping for this item.
Sold for $1000 with 25 bids.

At least the desire to acquire it for a fair price

KBParadise V80 with SKCM Salmon Alps:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/275398218772

Not my listing but wanted to share because my initial impressions are that it’s a pretty nice keyboard. I’m not the biggest fan of the Alps clone switches but some salmons would be a great improvement. I’m considering swapping some oranges into mine.

It’s a G81-1000 LBD, i.e. mit lasered caps, so worth virtually nothing (unless you’re after just the case or the cable).

I understood that the board was MY Switches with lasered keycaps because of the excellent wiki article on understanding cherry codes, but i thought maybe it would be interesting for some people. Thanks for clarifying !

I mean, lets count my Projects, Canon AP 800 , handwiring and building a case, TA SE505 handwiring and building a case, Apple M0118 need to desolder a few switches and get them to not stick , also wanna retr0bright the case, and i wanna convert an AEK II to a 60% with a custom case made from resin or concrete then i have a lot of SKCM Creams that i wanna ultra sonic clean , linear mod , waxboil and lube to throw into a custom build and then there is that Birch programmable.

And iam sure i forgot something...

edit: forgot the Toshiba T3200 laptop keyboard with Alps SKFL that needs to be handwired too and also needs a case of some sort....

IBM Industrial XT with Oak full travel membrane switches:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/165616417018

Never knew there was version without buckling springs, let alone an industrial version. The seller originally listed it for $10,000, but now has substantially lowered it.

Yeah that’s going to limit the pool of buyers buy a lot! There’s a person near me with a substantial vintage computer collection with several interesting keyboards but his prices are really high and they never sell.

I’m curious how the oak switches compare to buckling spring. It would be a shame to spend a lot of money on rare board and wind up with an inferior typing experience.

The keyfeel is awful, but the intention is for reliability, not keyfeel.

Thanks! If I remember correctly the XT was the first model F keyboard so I’m guessing they used this because IBM wasn’t sure about the reliability of the model F switches?

No, the XT gets its (daft) layout and (excellent) mechanism from the Datamaster which dates back to 1979. (Well, was "announced" in 1979. If anyone knows better, feel free to correct. It certainly pre-dates the IBM PC.)

That's not to say you're wrong about IBM's priorities, though. I'll just opine that contamination-resistant keyboards aren't expected to feel good. They're for use in dirty environments, typically by users with gloves on. So a nice premium key-feel wasn't required for them.

Makes sense. I grew up in auto repair shops and remember every keyboard having a rubber cover to keep the oil, grease and dirt out. It could’ve had the best switches but you were never going to notice.

Odd Northgate 101! This appears to be a Gen3 101, but with BAE instead of ANSI. It isn't a Gen2 (101I or 101N) or a Gen4 (101P) from what I can tell. Unfortunately there's no photo of the label, so I can't tell if this is a very early or very late one, or if it's a modification.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234656803716

edit: There appears to be no backslash, so this is probably a modification.

Original tape is gone and the ssk has been removed from packaging. To me this is no longer 'NIB', but no doubt people will still pay a hefty sum.

I suppose so, but you still never know just how much use the board has had prior to it being listed as 'NIB' or 'NOS'.

The BAE Enter key is of a slightly different color to all the other mods, so it's safe to assume so. I don't think BADBAE keyboards were actually sold, at least in the USA.
