Very nice staggered keyboards. I used 0.25x stagger like you suggest in the ones I proposed for the HyperMicro size. I'd be pretty happy with a TKL or 60% using the layout you have, with maybe just a split spacebar added. Oh, and ANSI of course.

My friend who has that otaku tenkeyless was like "I want one! But I want a tenkeyless!" And I was like come on TKL is just silly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH8btv7Fvq8 Then I was like "OK but it ain't going to be pretty... Did some hack and slashing =)


Anyway, I was planning on sneaking the possibility to use symmetric stagger onto the "phantom" round 2 PCB. That one won't be 60% though, tenkeyless will work.

I am curious how is the teensy fixated on the pcb? Just with the wires?

His geek hack thread stated: "Price will be $100 for a box of 800 switches (12.5¢ per switch.)"
He later also said there would be an option to buy ~100 switches at a time.

I don't think anyone was able to order switches from him at this time though.

Matias White ALPS Switches (those are the clicky ones) in his Tactile 4 aren't for sale yet either.

How about combining the revers staggering board with the trackpoint board. Than we can put the trackpoint in the gap between G and H and won't have to use special key caps. This might make everyone happy or maybe no one

It's the HHKB + miniguru + IBM Erase-Eaze. I added the scroll wheel and Duck key. Although the Duck key doesn't count because the actual scan code is up to the user (like Windows context menu key or something).

It's like an Apple product, it combines theses features into a neat single package... and BAM...revolutionary!

Why don't you contact lowpoly asking him about the supply for the trackpoint at least? In case he still is alive that is... I believe he is running around at geekhack occassionally.

I remember he elaborated in his miniguru thread about finding the right trackpoint supplier. Should be somewhere in there. Should be a good one. The early IBM Model M13 versions are very good, I didn't like trackpoints before I used that one. You won't use it for photoshop or gaming, but when you're working on the keyboard and just need to hit a button or menu, it's perfect and keeps your hands on the keyboard.

An additional problem which keeps this pipe dream from becoming reality would be the custom space/back space bar sizes. Small right shift and g/h might also be difficult to obtain.

Sounds like I need to buy a cherry doubleshot set from ascaii that was obtained from a tp-board.
Other caps shouldnt be so hard I don't think - maybe imsto can delivar some nice pbt caps,, ooor 7bit?

IMO the best pointing stick I've used was the TrackPoint on a lenovo thinkpad.
We could obtain those from laptop keyboards for sale on ebay etc.
Laptop keyboards with pointing sticks can be bought for around 15-30 dollars (refurbished most of the time).
Oh also Unicomp owns the copyright on the "old" IBM pointing sticks.

No problem with the 2.5 and 3 units keys. They exist both for DCS and SA family from SP.

Cutting G and H should be doable.

Trackpoint could be added in the way CeeSA did it on the Tipro.
The mousebuttons need to go on their own PCB, because there is no space below the bottom row. The qHACK requires a special case.

One option would be to use some of the bottom row keys as mousebuttons.

The scroll-wheel is another problem ...

Idea for the mouse buttons:
Dedicated PCB for the qHACK with space in the bottom row for the mouse buttons.

Was in a big electronics store today, had a quick peek at the keyboard section (they have around 50 models).
None had a pointing stick.
