Nobody has bought anything so far.
I wonder how people that had already bought so many ANSI kits in so many GBs before although they don't use ANSI at all feel about your whining over some couple dollars.
Let's keep the BS out of this thread and discuss things in a mutual neutral way. Appreciated!

read closely. ISO kits would have the effect of more Europeans ordering the base kits, hence Americans would get a better price too. win-win strategy.rknize wrote:So you are floating the idea of subsidizing your ISO language kits with ANSI sales? But isn't the alpha kit already pegged at the top tier? Selling more won't help at all, will it?matt3o wrote:read closely. Anyway, all I'm asking for is some transparency. Given everything that has happened in the GB space over the past year, I think the community deserves to know where their money is going. Your awesome site software makes the cost structure very clear. People spend their money on the kits they want and they can see how those choices affect the price. By doing what is being proposed, aren't you undoing some of that transparency? That makes me a little bit sad.

there's not only alpha, Europeans order other kits as well so the average cost of the whole set goes down anyway.rknize wrote:But isn't the alpha kit already pegged at the top tier? Selling more won't help at all, will it?
more transparent than showing you the real raw cost of the keycaps as quoted by signature plastics... I wouldn't know what to do.rknize wrote:Anyway, all I'm asking for is some transparency.

Why isnt that transparent? Its even posted here in the forum, for everybody clear to read! He can even write it into the GB form, and everybody who doesnt agree subsidizing something can change/cancel his order. Dont be sad!rknize wrote:But isn't the alpha kit already pegged at the top tier? Selling more won't help at all, will it?matt3o wrote:read closely. please note that what has been suggested by 7bit, even though very tempting, can't be practically done for various reasons.

Maybe for RB (round blue)?
Also, for the record, I understand the pickle that the folks wanting their individual language layout are in. It's just a bit tricky from the GB perspective, since the goal is to gather buying power toward a common goal. Adding a small percentage across the entire GB is definitely an option, so long as this is made clear from the start. Doing it after we have a huge pile of orders is not so nice. I, personally, am happy to throw in a couple of extra greenish-tinted fiats to help you guys get the keys that you want. I think most others feel the same way.

Side questions :
- Would your second proxy accept to add more kits, other colors blanks for example ?
- Do you have enough money collectors ? With the current flow of orders one person will not be enough...

this is a samwisekoi issue, but I believe we should be okay.zulios wrote: - Do you have enough money collectors ? With the current flow of orders one person will not be enough...
ps: I don't know why all these problems with paypal limits, I sent them some documentation and they waived any limitation

What documentation did you send them? Here in the US, they will automatically file with the IRS if you exceed their $20k/200 transaction limit. There is no easy way for an individual to demonstrate that this is not simply "income". We'd have to file a form for each person that sent us money do get a paper trail going. Most GB organizers that have been nailed so far due to PayPal have just paid up out of their own pocket.matt3o wrote:ps: I don't know why all these problems with paypal limits, I sent them some documentation and they waived any limitation

okay that makes sense. I use my account for business so I don't have those sort of issues (it is meant to receive high volumes).

Thanks for the answers Matt3o
I was indeed thinking samwisekoi might get in trouble due to these limitations, since you seemed to be surprised by how fast the orders came in.

The prices will be slightly higher anyway, to cover whatever costs, so nobody at GH will ever notice!rknize wrote:So you are floating the idea of subsidizing your ISO language kits with ANSI sales? I wonder how people that have already bought kits would feel about that.
I did this in Round 3 and 4.matt3o wrote:please note that what has been suggested by 7bit, even though very tempting, can't be practically done for various reasons.
BTW: Is it possible to pay in EUR?

Thanks for the efforts matt3o
I got everything for my noppoo choc mini except:
- spacebar, but since it's a non-standard 5.5, it was expected
- 1.75 backspace and 2.0 capslock (for colemak), the 1.75 modifiers set is really too expensive ;(
I also ordered some blanks for an ergodox set, is it possible to get some blank 1 unit keys with deep dish (or nipple) for the index positions on the home row?

It's not feasible because the US proxy is not willing to do that.7bit wrote: I did this in Round 3 and 4.
all payments will be in $ I'm afraid.7bit wrote: BTW: Is it possible to pay in EUR?
edit: Except if you pay by bank transfer from Eu. In that case we can do in Euro.
no more new keys sorry. anyway we are organizing a sister group buy for ISO characters.bpierre wrote:I also ordered some blanks for an ergodox set, is it possible to get some blank 1 unit keys with deep dish (or nipple) for the index positions on the home row?

^ This exactly, if European's bring you down two price tiers why complain? Everyone can be happy.matt3o wrote:read closely. ISO kits would have the effect of more Europeans ordering the base kits, hence Americans would get a better price too. win-win strategy.

mh ok it seems there's interest in something like that.
I'll talk about it with samwisekoi
edit: consider that payments via bank transfer must be done very quickly (right after the orders freeze)

I believe that uncommon combinations require more man work, hence higher price.Kurrk wrote:Question: what makes the mod175 so expensive? Twelve keys for >250 USD

All of the keys in Kit 11 are in other kits which got quite a lot of orders, so there is no reason to have such a high price for it.
Kit 10 is a bit different in that respect. I really don't get the point why you don't add some little to high volume kits to cover these costs. I also made low quantity kits more expensive, but I never in that way you do this here.
I will remove both kits from my order (I'm currently the only one who ordered these, I think) when these prices stick out that much.
Some of the 1.75 units keys are necessary for a lot of keyboards (G80-1800 and NoPoo).
