Model M with APL caps?

Those smell like Hooleon or the like to me. The company has been around since the mid-80s, and that font face and weight looks familiar. The X, S, G, Numpad, etc... Just a touch off

I'm not 100% certain, but confident enough to avoid it myself. I can contact Joan (still runs the outfit after Bob "retired") if you like and ask. There were only a couple of players in that space at the time. I wouldn't assume the pictures you are finding are actual IBM caps btw, even if from Ripster. No one is suggesting it isn't a nice board, I just personally believe the caps are aftermarket based on font deviations (only IBM has full access to their font, and their variances during the M era typically revolved around weight, not face). I have a couple Hooleon boards packed away, and the font faces have a striking similarity.


But again... Could be wrong. Hence the "smells" comment previously. Just adding awareness

@ and ~ look more like my XT's legends than the two Ms I have. ~ on ebay board looks different though (possibly different or just bad pic?).

The way I usually tell if they are real APL is if "APL" is on the front of the Backspace key. Is missing from this one and Ripster's too actually. Anyone have a known true example of model M or F APL caps that does not have "APL" on the backspace key?

Agreed, there are quite a few variations and exceptions, this 3178 F of mine is a good example with it's smaller off centered legends:

I'm 90% certain it's a G81.
The non-yellowed caps could indicate PBT dye subs.

I have two sets (one from an F122 and one from an M), and both would have APL on the backspace. The only other variation of the APL key I have seen is on the F8 key on an Unsaver, but it didn't have APL caps throughout the board. Pic to help those who haven't seen.

I believe you need to get the original Alps-manufactured AT101, with the FCC ID: GYI3PVAT101.
